Cataract

The so-called cataract is a clouding of the formerly clear eye lens that restricts vision and intensifies with age.

Often, it goes initially unnoticed, that’s why we urge you to come and see us for a check-up if you are over 60 years old and notice any of the following changes:

Symptoms

  • Impairment of vision (blurred vision near and far)
  • Increased sensitivity to glare
  • Double vision
  • Loss of contrast
  • Disturbed light-dark adaptation
  • Fading colours

Cataract surgery

Without surgery the cataract may lead to a complete loss of vision. The natural lens is replaced by an artificial one. Cataract surgery is one of the world's most commonly used surgical procedures – for you as a patient, this means that it’s absolutely proven and safe.

The Eye Clinic Theresienhöhe has been working with the ultra-modern LenSx femtosecond laser (laser lens exchange) since December 2011, as the first eye clinic in Southern Germany. Currently, it is the best tried and tested femtosecond laser in use.

NEW: Laser lens exchange

The laser treatment of cataracts with the LenSx femtosecond laser is a breakthrough innovation. Having been tested for years in laser eye surgery, we can now even do cataract surgery without a manual incision. Potential human error can be significantly reduced by this automation.

Treating presbyopia

By the LenSx technology and modern multifocal lenses we can treat presbyopia more precisely and successfully than ever. Like bifocals multifocal lenses correct the vision in several distances. Despite of your age you might not need glasses or contact lenses anymore.
